There’s something strikingly beautiful about Passopisciaro’s wines.  Like Sophia Loren, or the Grand Canyon at sunset.  These wines have a broad, yawning aperture of aromatics, all wrapped around that flirtatious, bright, seductive palate.  The other night at A16 one of my colleagues commented upon tasting this 2008 Passopisciaro, “Now this is a wine I want to swim around in for awhile.”  That’s exactly it- once you start tasting these wines, you fall into a leisurely trance, enjoying the complexity, appreciating the balance.  Gorgeous acidity, peppery bright and smokey underneath it all- Etna’s heart beats in Passopisciaro’s wines.
